Los Solecitos

For the past years we have worked on three different collections of hand-woven sun shaped wall pieces in collaboration with Salvador Compan from Lordag & Sondag and two different artisans with their own unique techniques.

Our newest collection of solecitos with Lordag & Sondag features the work of Joel Cornelio from Michoacán. Cornelio intervenes the suns by hand-weaving popotillo fibers. Due to their flexibility, these fibers are an excellent raw material for basket weaving.

For our first two collections of solecitos we worked with the amazing hand woven work of Milagro de Atocha.

Using jipi-japa fibers, the solecitos were hand woven in an underground caves in the town of Becal, Campeche. The humid temperatures from the caves facilitate the weaving process to achieve these delicate weaves.

The first collection was launched in August of 2021 where we used an all natural color palette of clay and fibers. For our second collection we incorporated color in both the fibers and the pigments on the clay. Giving the pieces a more contemporary look.
